DRET Teaching School Hub
In February 2021, Humberston Academy was successful in their bid to become a Teaching School Hub with the support of the David Ross Education Trust.
Our DRET Teaching School Hub is one of 87 newly designated Teaching School Hubs that has been established as a centre of excellence for teacher’ and leaders’ professional development. The Teaching School Hub has been designated to serve North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.
DRET Teaching School Hub is delighted to be able to contribute to and bring together provision that serves teacher development and leadership development. Ultimately, we believe that this is of upmost importance, because investment in teacher and leadership development is about making sure all children and young people in North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire benefit in every single teacher’s classroom. It is our privilege to be able to be able to invest in teachers and leaders, and support their professional learning throughout their careers.
Our duty is to serve and support all schools, whether they be primary, secondary, specialist schools or provision, or Alternative Provision in the region – and we will do this by playing our role in the delivery of the Early Career Framework, National Professional Qualifications (NPQs), Initial Teacher Training (ITT), and provision of Appropriate Body Services. We will also do this by helping all leaders in the region navigate the expertise in teacher development and professional development opportunities that already exists in the system by working with partners, such as Kyra Research School and DfE designated Curriculum Hubs.
Becoming a Teaching School Hub which will have an active role with DRET and across the region means that our staff will gain excellent exposure to career developmental opportunities that will only enhance the quality of education at Humberston Academy.
DRET has proud roots in the region. As a Teaching School Hub, we are committed to ensuring teacher and leadership development speaks to the context of schools in the area and responds to the challenges and opportunities that leaders face.
The Teaching School Hub is committed to effective partnership work with an emphasis on empowering key stakeholders and partners to meaningfully contribute to developing and achieving the vision of our Teaching School Hub.
