Humberston Academy

Humberston is an outstanding academy proud of our exceptionally high standards and traditional ethos. We offer a diverse enrichment programme in order to develop skills outside of the classroom.

Food

School Meals

The dining rooms operate a cafeteria system with a choice of menu provided by our contracted catering company "Caterlink", who have a five star rating for hygiene.

School lunches have a wide and varied selection to choose from. A meal deal currently costs £2.53 and provides a nutritious and balanced main meal and dessert/drink.

Students are able to bring in a packed lunch which must be consumed in the dining area. Drinks may be brought for lunchtime consumption but they must be in an unbreakable container; glass bottles and cans must not be brought into school.

Students are encouraged to bring into school a plastic water bottle which they can refill at various drinking fountains situated throughout the Academy at break and lunchtimes.

All food must be consumed in the Hall or the Dining Area.

Chewing gum is not permitted and must not be brought into school.

Encouraging healthy eating

As part of the 'Healthy Schools' agenda as Humberston Academy we are committing to encouraging a healthy diet. We will take opportunities during the academic year to educate students on a nutritious diet and a healthy lifestyle. We will use opportunities in assemblies, PHSE, our personal development day as well as specific topics in Science and Physical Education lessons. We also provide free fruit for all students wishing to take advantage of this opportunity during our 'Free Fruit Friday'. We ask that students do not being fizzy drinks into the academy and that unhealthy foods are limited in packed lunches brought into the academy.

Cashless Catering System

Humberston Academy operates a Cashless Catering System for school lunches.

Your child's biometric details will be taken on the first day of the new term. Built into the Cashless Catering System is an overdraft facility which allows for a student to go overdrawn for one meal only, should their balance be insufficient to pay for their lunch. They will be informed of this by the till operator, but will be allowed to take a lunch. The till operator will inform the students of how much they owe in order for them to notify parents.

Methods of payment;

Students may use top-up machines, using cash, located at key points around the school. Students will be shown how to operate these by staff. These machines can also be used to check your balance.

Bromcom Pay

We are now using BromCom to allow you to pay for your child's lunches.
